FAQs

Some of the answers to the most common questions I get asked.

Got a question you’re looking to be answered before contacting me ? If so, below is a list of the most frequently asked questions I have been asked over the years.

If you feel there are a few I’ve missed, please don’t hesitate to let me know.

  • Do we need a face to face meeting before we begin the project?

    +
    • I'm always happy to meet up with local clients to discuss a project in person, but I know this isn’t always possible. Especially if you’re based on the other side of the country – or the other side of the world!

I will need to discuss a few things before we start, but this can easily be done in a phone call or a Skype chat at a time that suits you.

  • How much does a website cost?

    +
    • This is the most popular question I'm asked. But there’s a problem when it comes to answering.

The truth is I don’t know how much your website will cost until I know what sort of website you need!

Each website and client is different, and my costs are based on your exact requirements. When I know what you need, I’ll provide a transparent, no-obligation quote so you know exactly what you’re paying for

As a rough idea our bespoke websites tend to start of around the £1,000 mark.

  • How long will my site take to build?

    +
    • Another question I get asked a lot. Again, this varies depending on your exact requirements. Some projects can take a few months while others a few weeks.

Once I’ve discussed your project, I’ll give you an idea of just how long the project will take.

  • What is web hosting?

    +
    • Web hosting is the service that keeps your website online, and it’s an important consideration for any successful online business.

It can be daunting to choose the right provider as there are just so many web hosting companies to pick from. Your website needs a reliable, affordable and dependable host – preferably one that regularly backs up your website and keeps your files safe and secure.

I can take away all your troubles of trying to find the right web hosting company as I use a trusted partner who ticks all the boxes. Contact me to see how I can help.

  • What is SEO?

    +
    • SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation. Done correctly SEO will help to ensure that your website is ranking as high as possible when people search on Google or another search engine. I can never guarantee the number one spot (and please be careful of anyone who does), but I guarantee your website will be set up to perform as well as possible before going live.

I offer a popular ongoing SEO service, which helps you to identify and target the right search terms (or keywords) and then improve your rankings. Some keywords are really competitive and can take time to get to a good ranking position. Others may only take a few weeks.

Researching the best keywords to target is all part of my service when you hire me. Please take a look at my SEO service to see what else is included.

  • What kind of business do you work with?

    +

  • Can I edit my website once it’s complete?

    +
    • Of course. I always instruct clients how to update their website. In fact I make this as easy as possible when developing your website.

I do understand that not all businesses have the time to update their website and for that reason I offer a popular stress-reducing website maintenance service. • Can you supply written content?

    +
    • Yes, absolutely.

I work with trusted copywriters with a range different skill sets who will have your copy needs covered.

  • Can you source photos for my website?

    +
    • Yes.

I always tell my clients that good photos help me to make your website even more appealing. I work closely with local photographers who can come to your location to take that perfect shot. Failing that I also have the access to stock libraries that can deliver high quality stock images for your website.

This is something we can discuss at the early stage of the project and factor into our prices and timescales.

  • Can you maintain my website?

    +
    • I can – and in fact this is one of my most popular services.

I understand that not all businesses have the time to update their website and for that reason I offer a website maintenance service, where I handle updates on your behalf. Read about our website maintenance for more details.

  • Are there any other hidden costs for my website?

    +
    • No.

That’s a promise. I don’t believe in hidden fees or unexpected bills.

No-one likes to be hit with a cost they didn’t know about. I am 100% transparent with all costs before staring any projects, so you’ll know what you need to pay and when before the project begins.
